About 200 years old, Grand Hastings was originally the first two houses to be built next to the St Leonards Archway in what was then called Adelaide Place. also known as "St. Leonards without".It has been continuously occupied with various uses-as a pianoforte and music warehouse, wine merchants, milliners," ladies modiste"(dressmakers), library and tearooms.Apparently damaged by German www2 bombing, perhaps on 11th march 1943, when Germans killed 37 including 17 in the Swan inn, old Hastings. It became Gralyn Guest House in the 1950s and part was Regina's Hairdressers in 1974..Now it is a blend of old traditional history and modern comfort. Many, including a host of film and tv personalities, academics, entertainers, literary folks and film crews stay here..Grand Hastings has featured in both films and tv .but most are drawn by the stunning sea views and skyscapes.
